Carpool Mom

I'll be the first to admit it: I'm a carpool mom. I live in sweat pants, t-shirts, jeans, and slide on shoes. I never have enough time for make-up or doing my hair. And right now, I constantly smell of spit-up! So when I see another mom able to do what I can't I definitely take note. There was a woman in the carpool line today that was dressed to a tee in her little golf apparel ladies skirt and shirt. I was envious that she had time to work on her body and spend time doing something other than laundry!!
My Aunt Mary is like this. She golfs continuously!! And she always looks adorable doing it. She's got the look down to a science with her visors, sunglasses, shorts and golf shirt! Oh, and her ever-present golfer's tan! :)

Vegas Baby!

I have wanted to go to Vegas for as long as I can remember! I remember when I was young, I saw commercials for the Vegas shows with the white tigers in them and was just entranced. So much so that that year for Christmas, I got a stuffed white tiger from Santa! When I was in college, I almost went, but decided to go to San Francisco instead. I always thought it would cost some serious money to vacation in Vegas, but I found out differently when I looked up Tropicana Las Vegas. The room rates there range from $49 to $198 a night. Definitely managable for those of us on a budget! But I would want to stay in what was considered the high roller rooms! No budget motel for me.

Isn't she lovely?

She is the prettiest little girl I've ever met! She loves to smile at her Momma in the mornings, when everyone else is still sleeping. She sleeps for 6 hours at a stretch at night, which is nice. And she gets those squeaker hiccups you can hear at the end of the video about once a day!

Battle of the Bulge

For years, I've struggled to finally feel good about my weight. I hate looking at my yearbook pictures and any snapshots from high school and college days because I was overweight. I didn't really date or have a serious relationship until I entered college. I eventually lost weight the old fashioned way, and surprised even myself with how much I liked the way I looked. So after almost 6 years of marriage and 3 kids, some of that weight has found it's way back to me! And I'm finding it hard to maintain a strict diet. I've considered diet pills with hoodia in them, but I'm afraid I would forget them and then have just wasted my money! So I'm considering trying the diet patch to jump start my weight loss again! I started running on a treadmill in my in-laws basement because I'm training for a half marathon lately. But my struggle has been food!

Flip That House!

I am completely addicted to any show that is dedicated to investing in real estate or flipping houses. If you turned on my television, it would be tuned into TLC or the Discovery Home channel 95 percent of the time. I've noticed a trend on these shows. In order to make big money, you have to invest some serious cash into the property. Out of curiosity, I was looking at real estate in some of cities in the United States known for real estate that carries a hefty price tag. I found some Tampa real estate that fit the bill! This particular site even broke down how many homes in their area were undervalued. Again, because I'm curious, I searched this site based on criteria that I would require if I were looking for a home for my family. Look at this house:At over 3300 square feet, it lists at around $399,000 right now, but is valued at over $500,000!! That's what I'm talking about people! And with amenities like a huge back yard and an indoor pool this home doesn't look like it needs many upgrades! Now, if I could just find an investor...

Memory Needed!

Our family takes hundreds of pictures a week sometimes! I mean, we literally fill up a disk with pictures a month just because we don't want to take up the memory space on our computer. I told my husband that it would be a little more convenient for me if we could just add some additional memory to our computer. That way I could save to disk quarterly or even bi-yearly instead of monthly. Apparently this is a difficult thing for him! :) So I found a site to help us out with this little dilema. Now all we have to do to get that additional IBM memory, is select and click! Easy as pie!

Time Saver

I just checked out this site, and have decided that I want this for Christmas! How cool would it be if I could get a traffic report before I left my house, or in the car on the way to work instead of having to wait on the radio personality to give it. It would save so much time and even money on gas! The only hitch for this Alabama chick is that it's only available on the West Coast right now. But I can tell you from experience that traffic in San Francisco is HORRENDOUS!! I think that this gadget would be a big hit in ANY metropolitan area.

TrafficGauge device offers real-time traffic anytime, anywhere with the TrafficGauge handheld, TrafficGauge for Cell, TrafficGauge for PC, TrafficGauge for Widget Suite and TrafficGauge for iPhone. Each product or service offers simple to use and easy to read traffic maps. These maps are the best in the industry. The device is an award winning, customer-loving favorite for navigating traffic in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. The cell phone and PC/Mac software is free and works in most major metropolitan markets.

Mini-Van Woes

So when we purchased out new mini-van back in May, we thought we could use some Scotchguard and keep our kids from eating in it and keep it looking brand new for months to come! I think we made it a whole week before we broke down and bought a couple of Happy Meals, and one of the drinks ended up on the mats. It looks like we might have to break down and buy a few auto accessories like floor mats or even this cool cargo liner made for the back of a mini van! Check it out:At least if we had another set of mats, we could at least feel okay about having to eat in the car on occasion!

Truckin' It!

My brother and my dad both have pick-up trucks. My brother, Matt, had a Toyota Tacoma. And my Dad has a Ford F-150 that he uses as a work truck. I know that my brother has done some things to his truck to sort of beef it up. My least favorite thing he did was add those huge speakers... you know, the kind that make the cars around it vibrate! He's also added a tool box to it. Up next on his wish list is a new truck rack. My Dad's truck is in need of some serious storage. So I told him to go by this site and see if he could find anything to make his truck slightly more organized! Let's face it! Anything would be more organized than throwing tools and parts into a cardboard box in the bed of the truck!

Hospital Find!

In case you didn't know (smile), we had baby Sophie girl back in August. The stay at the hospital is never just awesome, but we did discover that they use a brand of wipes that we loved! We couldn't find them in any stores, so we looked on line for medical supplies. We found them at this site. They smell so good and are thick and not flimsy like most sensitive brands on the market.
While there, I saw a blood pressure monitor for my parents to check out. It seems like a one-stop-shop for medical supplies!

Roll Tide!

This has definitely been a fun football season so far! It's easy to have fun when your team is having a winning season. For the two home games that I've attended this year, the Crimson Tide stadium has been awash in a sea of houndstooth.

That's the latest trend in Alabama apparal. In fact, I like it so much that we've been looking for some luggage in houndstooth! But we don't want to skimp on quality. Samsonite is a leader in quality for luggage, so I was hoping to find some there. No such luck so far! But I bet by next year, we might be able to find some Samsonite luggage in any Bama Fever stores!

Safety First!

When I was growing up, my brother had this friend who collected pocket knives. It started out with a simple, small single blade and gradually progressed up to the big stuff. I mean, he was so obsessed with using one of his knives that he looked for opportunities to whip one out of his pocket or off of his belt. "You need me to open that box for you?" or "You have a string on your shirt man. Want me to cut it off for you?" Someone should have gotten him a safety utility knife, or he should have invested in one himself. One of those times he was a little too quick on the draw and ended up in the emergency room getting stitches in his hand! I personally use a multi-tool quite frequently, but since I have kids, safety is definitely a factor.

Sundays and Golf

In my family, there are only three sports: volleyball, football, and golf. On my mom's side of the family, golf is more of a religion on Sundays than actual religion! My grandfather would much rather eat dirt than miss his weekly golf game! Andy my aunt spends entire weekends dedicated to tournaments and perfecting her golf swing. My aunt has tudored me in the fine art of finding the perfect set of golf clubs. Titlest, Callaway, Ping Golf to name a few. The last tournament my aunt participated in she won, and got credit in the pro-shop. She came away with some cute golf shirts courtesy of her golfing addiction! Unfortunately I'm not all that great of a golfer! Tiger Woods I will never be, (unless you're taking miniature golf!) but at least I know I can talk equipment with the best of 'em.

Birthday Plans

My little boy is turning 5!! Someone, please help me stop the hands of time. He seems to have grown up a couple of notches since starting school. We are trying something new with the boys. We made them responsibility charts... make your bed, brush your teeth, pick up toys, type of stuff. For everything they accomplish, they get a dime. It's fun to see them excited at the end of the week to see how much they've earned.

We are planning Tres's birthday party for the Saturday beforehand. He wants a Star Wars, Hershey, Bowling party. Pretty specific, huh? Well, we're taking him and his cousins to bowl for an hour, then back here for his Hershey Bar shaped cake, and his Star Wars themed party! :)
