Pain in the...

My sister, Tonnie, has a platform beds. At first when she told me she got one a year or so ago, I thought, "Lord, Ton, those things are a throwback to the eighties!" But little did I know that she was slightly ahead of the curve. I've seen platform beds on television, in showrooms, and in other's homes non-stop since she got hers!! It does look chic and linear doesn't it? Very clean looking.
The only thing is, Tonnie needs a new mattress to go on her platform. She said she's had that one since before she was married... eleven years ago!! Can you say back-ache?

Diaper Duty

I'm about to be really descriptive here... so if you don't want to hear about it, move on! Smile! Sophie has been eating baby foods and baby cereal for over a month now. So her digestive system is working really hard to learn how to process all these new foods. That means I am constantly changing poop diapers. And it's not just the breastfed baby, not-too-smelly kind of diapers anymore! No, it's more like the knock-your-socks-off, change me immediately kind of diapers! You know, the kind where you wish you had some of those latex, exam gloves to kept you clean! Thank goodness she only does her business every other day. Anyone want to come take over diaper duty tomorrow?

I Miss Those Pens

Does anyone else get emotionally attached to pens? I used to be the office manager for my dad's plumbing company and we would get all sorts of free imprinted promotional products sent to us... companies trying to lure us into business with them! I loved it when I saw one of those manilla envelopes in the mail, because I knew I would be getting a new pen or some sort of office supply that I could use! I would use one until the ink went dry and then wait impatiently for another free one to show up! Why didn't I ever order some for the company? It's not like we wouldn't use them and if the guys had left them on a job site, then it might remind the customer to give us a call! Man, I miss those pens.

Imprint

We were invited to a LAN party to celebrate New Years this year at some friends of ours. They had just bought a new home, a considerable upgrade from their previous one! They gave everyone a tour and we were all appropriately impressed. We had to bring Sophie to the party, since her source of food was going! And while everyone was busy playing some sort of good guy/bad guy game on a bazillion computers all linked together, I was finding a quiet place to nurse Sophie and get her to sleep. They sent me into the master bedroom and I sat down to feed her. I noticed that I was slowly sinking into their mattress. That's when I realized that they had a memory foam mattress. I got up from feeding Sophie and there was a butt print! I snuggled Soph up and laid her down, and when I came back to get her several hours later, when I picked her up, she left her little cocoon behind!

Recycle

I'm so tired of using my safety utility knife!! I had a box cutter and lost it in the mayhem that was moving day. So I've been using my utility knife like crazy! I bet I look a fool most days with my hair in a ponytail and in sweats toting around my knife, or wearing it clipped onto the waistband of said pants all day long. I've been using it to open boxes, break down boxes, and odds and ends jobs that pop up throughout the day.

Did you know that you can recycle the blades from your safety utility knife? Just hit the jump and click on the 'Blade Recycling Program' link. I guess you can recycle just about anything these day! Who knew?

New furniture

Since we moved into our new home in December, we've been slowly trying to get things in order. I guess the combination of a newborn, traveling, the holidays, and the move have made it seem that it's taking forever to get settled! Now that we pretty much know what furniture will work in our home and what furniture won't, we are ready to take inventory of what we need.

We now have one more den to furnish and have been talking about taking a look at furniture soon. I wish that we were a member of directbuy. Then we could get manufactor's discount pricing!! Did you know that furniture stores enjoy a gross margin of 43.3% on average? That's highway robbery people!! I want a deal, but I don't want a dinky couch either!!

The Computer Guy!

I would consider my husband knowledgable about computers and technology. In his chosen field, television production, I believe that no one knows more or can deliver the quality that he can. But I have to say, when it comes to problems or quirks with our computer at home or at work, my first instinct is to call on my brother-in-law, Brett. I got this assignment and didn't know anything about Firefold or their products, so I called Brett up and asked him. He told me that they use websites like it all the time to order Cat5E cable in bulk for repairs and rebuilding servers or computer systems.

Do you guys remember that old SNL (Saturday Night Live) skit called 'The Computer Guy?' Where the computer guy was completely obnoxious and know-it-all? Well, that's Brett!
